Great Turtle Race

Conservation International and National Geographic have teamed up with field research partner Canadian Sea Turtle Network to bring you the 2009 Great Turtle Race. This is the third event in a series that brings public attention to the critically endangered leatherback sea turtle and generates important research and conservation support. The turtles were being “coached” by U.S. Olympic swimmers such as Eric Shanteau who’s turtle, Backspacer, won this year’s race. The rest of the turtles continue to swim toward the finish and there are plenty of challenges still to be won.

USA Swimming’s 2010 Athlete Membership Card

USA Swimming opened the votes to determine which athlete will be shown on the 2010 Athlete Membership Card. Gary Hall Jr. is in the mix among other Olympic legend such as Rowdy Gaines and Josh Davis. Please vote for Gary Hall Jr. or any other athlete you like.

In The Arena

SwimNews.com launches a 12-part series called “In The Arena: How Rivals Square Up” in which major contenders for world titles in Rome this summer and the Olympic cycle leading to London 2012 answer questions that focus on how they see themselves, each other, the ready room and how they prepare for the biggest of moments. As you might guess by the title of the series, all featured swimmers are sponsored by Arena. They start the series of with the battle between Olympic sprint freestyle kings Cesar Cielo and Alain Bernard.

Nominees for 2009 U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and Allstate Insurance Company announced the nominees for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Class of 2009. The star-studded list of 15 individuals includes among others Olympic legend Gary Hall (Sr.). Please go and vote for Gary or any other great athlete on the list.

The Jagged Edge Of Jaked Results

Craig Lord of SwimNews.com posted an article on the impact of the Jaked suit on the latest competitions in Switzerland. His article seems to be a sum up of what coaches in Switzerland have to say about the suit. I swam with the suit on the 4x100m FR during Long Course Championships a few weeks ago and have to say that I didn’t find it to be so great … but maybe I’m one of the swimmers who does not equally benefit from the suit or I simply don’t believe in it.

Championnat Suisse des Clubs Day II

C’est fait … l’équipe du Lancy Natation a réussi de monter sur le podium lors du Championnat Suisse des Clubs à Neuchâtel. Nous avons remporté la 3ème place derrière Uster et Red-Fish avec 20’138 points.
