Team Championships 2009

Swiss Team Championships were held on Saturday March 28th and Sunday March 29th at the Nid-du-Crô indoor pool in Neuchâtel. Our men’s team swam the NLA in the afternoon on both days.

Our team was composed of  Buchs Tristan, Comeche Daniel, Courtois Damien, Fornasari Lino, Künzi Aurélien, Massacand Jonathan,  Tschabuschnig Gregory, Tyriseva Yanouck, Waeber Dimitri and myself.

Lancy-Natation only competed in the NLA for the their third year and we all wanted to achieve something special this year. Our goal was to bring home a medal and we knew that 3rd place could be possible if everything would go for us at the meet.

On the first day and throughout about half of the second day, we just blew away the competition an found ourself on the temporally 2nd place. My personal participation to this success wasn’t huge as I only swam the 200m butterfly on Saturday. I didn’t do especially well neither but did add the points we needed from this race.

Team Championships are always special. It’s not one single performance of a swimmer that counts but the overall point results of all races. That’s why I can be happy with this weekend as we did bring home that 3rd place.

I’d like to thank my two former Genève Natation and now new Lancy Natation teammates, Dimitri Waeber and Jonathan Massacand, for joining us this weekend and contributing big time to achieve our goal. I also like to congratulate Damien for his two National Records on the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Full results of the meet can be accessed through the Lenex Online Viewer or on SwimRankings.net. You can also read an article from my club’s website about our team performance at the meet (obvisouly the article is in French).
